Jessica Watson: My Philosophy

I decided to start my own practice in September 2005 after spending what was supposed to be a vacation weekend with friends in New Orleans. It was the weekend Hurricane Katrina hit the gulf. Though stuck in the airport for two days, we were fortunate to get out on one of the last flights to leave the city on Sunday before the storm. When I returned to my beautiful office in San Francisco, overlooking the Bay, I watched as the Red Cross ship left port headed toward the gulf and knew that it was time to make a change.

Since receiving my J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2002, I have held associate positions at the prestigious San Francisco law firms of Hersh FamilyLaw Practice, PC. and Leland, Parachini, Steinberg, Matzger & Melnick, LLP, where I also had the opportunity of working as a law clerk during my last two years of law school. As a result, I have worked with some of San Francisco's most amazing legal minds and have had six years of extraordinary training and mentoring.

Before attending law school, I served as an investigator for Child Protective Services in Dallas, Texas and counseled numerous children in a variety of settings from pre-school to juvenile detention facilities. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Texas in Denton, where I focused on child development and abuse.

All of these experiences combined with my own involvement in the child welfare system have led me to create my own firm where I intend to make the most of my skills, background, and knowledge of the law to assist families and children in need. I hope to not only provide superior legal representation, but also a responsive, personable, humane environment for my clients.

My goal is not simply to win at any cost, but to make what is undeniably an emotionally demanding journey easier for you.

Like other firms, I do require a retainer fee and charge an hourly rate for my time. However, I am committed to helping children and families in a variety of circumstances. Should you have a legal question and wish to retain the services of an attorney, please do not hesitate to Contact me. I will do my best to assist you and if I am unable to do so, I will be happy to provide you with some additional resources.
